Industrial Designer

Job Summary

  •  Creating three-dimensional models that provide a realistic view of the various mechanical components, products, and assemblies for RV and marine systems

  • Creating various mechanical components, products, and assemblies for RV and marine systems

  • Designs may include: enclosures and components for manufacturing using injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, or other processes.

  • Product conceptualization, planning, design, development, testing, and finalization to a marketable product

  • Measuring performance, identify product problems, propose and implement suitable solutions

  • Creating designs using SolidWorks and similar programs, product documentation, and revision histories

  • Creation of plans, technical documentation, testing methods and procedures, and user manuals for various mechanical products

  • On occasion travel may be required

  • Position may also include other tasks as required by Spyder Controls

Compensation

Annual compensation will range from $75,000 - $100,000 depending on applicant education, experience, credentials and performance. Benefits include a Health Spending Account, Pooled Insurance benefits and TFSA or RRSP matching.

Applicant Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to live and work in Canada

  • Highly analytical mind, with ability to grasp concepts quickly, plan, and implement successful mechanical projects

  • Above average computer skills, proficiency in solid modeling software, and strong spatial visualization for 3D modeling

  • Strong mathematical skills

  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

  • Good organizational skills, strong technical skills and systematic approaches to problem solving

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to manage stressful situations and strict deadlines

Desirable (But Not Required) Attributes Include

  • Exposure to or experience in designing mechanical parts

  • Work experience as a 3D Drafter with plastics experience

  • Degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technologist Diploma

  • In depth knowledge of SolidWorks
