Technologist

Job Summary

  • The Technologist position will include:

  • Hands-on assembly and repair of electromechanical prototypes and jigs (includes the use of basic tools and soldering equipment and requires good up-close eyesight for working with small components)

  • Hands-on testing of products to determine mechanical, thermal, and electrical limits and documenting results

  • Documentation that could include Bills of Materials, Assembly & Testing Procedures, and CAD Drawings

  • Design work that could include 3D Modeling in SolidWorks and Drawings in CorelDraw

  • Identify problems, propose suitable solutions, and implement the solutions

  • Maintain professionalism in the workplace, remain composed under pressure while meeting deadlines, and maintain a regular schedule with occasional extended hours

  • On occasion, some travel could be required

  • Position may also include other related projects or other tasks as required by Spyder Controls

Compensation

Annual compensation will range from $40,000 to $65,000 depending on applicants education, experience, credentials, and performance. Benefits include a Health Spending Account, Pooled Insurance benefits, and TFSA or RRSP matching.

Applicant Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to live and work in Canada, and live within 45 minutes of Lacombe, Alberta

  • 2 Years of Hands-on experience with fabrication, construction, or manufacturing

  •  Experience using computers and software including Microsoft Office

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly, with a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, and good collaboration with staff and clients

  • Innovative and creative problem solving

Desirable (But Not Required) Attributes Include

  • Experience with CAD Software (especially SolidWorks)

  • Experience with graphic design software such as CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator

  • Related certificates, diplomas, or degrees
