Lab Technician / Technologist
Job Summary
The Lab Technician/Technologist position will include:

Hands on assembly, modification, and repair of electromechanical prototypes and test jigs (includes use of basic tools and soldering equipment and requires good up-close eyesight and manual dexterity for working with small components)

Diagnosing and troubleshooting failed products and test jigs to identify point(s) of failure.

Hands on testing of products to determine mechanical, thermal, and electrical limits and documenting results, and to determine compliance with data sheets

Proper operation of lab equipment including power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes

Coordinating with and supporting the production team on items related to prototyping, testing, modifying, and repairing products and assemblies

Design and documentation that could include CAD Drawings, Assembly & Testing Procedures, and Bills of Materials

Maintain professionalism in the workplace, remain composed under pressure while meeting deadlines, and maintain a regular schedule with occasional extended hours

Identify problems, propose, and implement suitable solutions on electromechanical assemblies

On occasion, some travel may be required

Position may also include other related projects, or other tasks as required by Spyder Controls

Compensation
Annual compensation will start in the range of $50,000 to $70,000 depending on applicant experience, credentials, and performance. A benefits package (including pooled insurance benefits, a health spending account, TFSA and/or RRSP with matching, paid sick leave, etc.) will be provided after probationary period is completed.
Applicant Qualifications

Legally entitled to live and work in Canada, and live within 45 minutes of Lacombe, Alberta

Ability to grasp concepts quickly, with high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

Self motivated with the ability to work independently, and good collaboration with staff and clients

Innovative and creative problem solving

General aptitude and good understanding of electronics fundamentals

Soldering experience and electronics production experience

Experience using computers and software including Microsoft Office

Effective written and verbal communication skills
Desirable (But Not Required) Attributes Include
-
2 Years Hands on experience with electronic/electrical fabrication, construction, or manufacturing

Experience with CAD Software (SolidWorks, Altium or similar)
-
Experience with graphic design software such as CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator
-
Related certificates, diplomas, or degrees
-
Experience using lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes and Signal/Function Generators, etc.
